September_2017 Publication of the documentary "Oshima - Island of the forgotten people" in GEO Magazine Germany. Together with author Ines Possemeyer we visited the little island Oshima in the japanese inland sea Setonaikai. It is still inhabited by former leprosis patients. Story for the magazine "Stern" #50_2016 about the mentally disabled table tennis athlete Hartmut Freund. The gentle 48 year old Hartmut is trained by his brother Norbert Freund who sacrificed his career as a journalist to allow his brother to live his life up to his possiblities. Even though Hartmut  is not able to communicate his basic needs or even take a shower without help due to his low IQ of 46  he is a stunningly good table tennis player. A sport for which usually fast reflexes and mental abilities are needed.
